I like anime blogs (I run one myself, after all) but, like all blogs,
they do lend themselves to OMGTEHDRAMA!!!11 a little too often, methinks.
There was the Blogsuki backlash a few weeks (months?) ago, a bunch of
really quite incredibly stupid stuff over Bandai and Solid State Society
recently, and now drama of the highest order here.

Mentar and Jeff are both fairly eloquent individuals, but both of them
have the wrong end of the stick, really. Leechers are annoying, true
(speaking as an occasional fansubber, both in group format and solo) but
fansubbers are not really justified in acting the way that they do
sometimes (Jeff's making blanket statements which don't really apply to a
lot of people, but the kernel of his post still stands). Mentar mostly
seems to be up on his high horse because he's worked with/for Doremi, and
he has a tendency to get overly officious about anything/anyone that
disagrees with him (I don't think he'll ever forgive me for despising
Kannazuki no Miko).

Thing is, though, that DarkMirage had a point about the whole Otome
special thing; the translation's crap, and he can point it out, and back
in the AJ days everyone ridiculed Killshok and co. mercilessly for "mass
naked child events". But it's all been blown out of proportion, as the
Internet (and anime fandom) is so very good at doing.
