GAH! I'll just assume that this is because you're in an area without
broadband availability. Where do you live?!?

I live in a major metropolitan area (Atlanta) and know people with broadband,
so there probably is broadband here. I don't know if Linux is
supported, though.

You live in Atlanta? So do I.

I have Comcast cable. Comcast doesn't care what you do as long as you
give them money and don't bother them. I pay $42.95/mo for it. Faster
speeds than DSL but no static IPs. They do not care what OS you run nor
if you have a router splitting your line to multiple computers.

There is also speakeasy, the god of ISPs. If you can get speakeasy DSL,
then DO IT MANG. They also don't care what OS you're running or if you
use a router to split the connection. They are the best, if they will
service your area. They come highly recommended.

We also have a DSL line through speedfactory. They are OK, but they use
PPPoE, which is rather unfortunate. Would MUCH rather have speakeasy,
but they don't service our area (*sniff*). Speedfactory also does not
care what OS you run nor if you use a router. We have a static IP for
our linux box through speedfactory.

Another local ISP is Bellsouth DSL (PPPoE I believe). Don't know much
about how good their service is.

FWIW, we have a linux (debian) firewall box sitting in the basement
managing both the cable line (comcast) and the DSL line (speedfactory)
and all the other junk on the internal network with no issues from
either ISP.
