That's a great locale to be "local"... <g>

But I also like to sip on a drink while I watch anime, whether while
watching on my PC in the basement or on one of the projection TVs
upstairs. Usually I'm watching anime on weeknights and I don't tend to
drink alcoholic beverages after dinner. So my normal beverage to drink
with anime is fruit or grape punch or iced tea. However, if I'm having
popcorn while viewing anime my first choice is always ginger ale.

Japanese sell one of those none alcoholic malted drink that looks
exactly like a beer, except the label on the bottle has a kid's face on
it.

I've tried non-alchoholic beers in the past... my experience has been
analogous to watching "Card Craptors" instead of CCS... <g>

I never drink coffee or tea while watching anime; not even Japanese
green tea. I don't like to have hot drinks get cold, and if I'm sipping
a hot drink while watching a half hour anime, the hot drink is bound to
cool off before the end of the show.

there are many different kind of tea, just about all of them are better
tasting than plain Japanese green tea, even Genma tea (green tea w/
rice) or iced barley tea is better, you can try smaller portion, and if
it gets lukewarm before you finished it, put it in the freezer and
enjoy ice tea a bit later, or microwave will work, too in reheating. I
go for Pu-Erh, Darjeeling, and Oolong.

I've never acquired a taste for "popcorn" tea - the sort with toasted
rice in it, despite being pushed to try many times by my Japanese
friends. Generally I prefer jasmine or lotus teas, but that's because I
eat dim sum too often... <g>

So, do you like to drink while watching anime, and if so, what do you
find best suited for your anime tastes? What about snacking while
watching? Do you ever have a craving for Japanese snacks or something
similar?

for me I pick my drink depend on the snack, just about all salty
Japanese snack like rice cracker/wasabe peas and fish/squid jerky are
good w/ beer or sake,

Now you are making me hungry! <g>

I don't recommend Japanese canned ice coffee or
Calpis w/ Japanese sweet, those are probably too sweet together and
only good by themselves in a hot day.

unless you got a sweet tooth, then go for the Oreo cookies dip in hot
chocolate.

Oreos, like Hostess Cupcakes, are things best left to my childhood
memories... <g>

and for you guys who like instant ramen, which is fried and laced w/
MSG, let me remind you it will only take you 4-5 minutes to cook dry
soba, cool them down w/ ice/water, then serve w/ somen tsuyu (noodles
dipping sauce from a bottle), and if you want, a bit green onion
(chopped) and wasabe (squeeze from a tube), now how hard can that be?
even shaved bonito (from a package) on cold tofu w/ soy souce will only
take a minute to do. boiled string beans took a bit more time, (iced,
dried, and salted.) but probably are one of the more popular Japanese
snack to go w/ beer.

For whatever reason I've never tried cooking with rice noodles.
Generally when I make pseudo-oriental food I stick with making rice
along with it.

omedeto!

Thanks!

you might want to try the new trendy Japanese health drink,
rice vingar, not the kind you find in the kitchen, but pre-made black
usualy mixed w/ honey in small, expensive bottle like sake.
