When I run chkdsk, the results are displayed for less than
a 10th of a second before the dos window closes;
how can I view the results?
Try opening a command window first and then type chkdsk at the prompt, that
way the window remains after the program finishes.
The windows event console tells me that it found
bad sectors; but it does not tell me if it thinks it could
repair them, or how many sectors it found.
(SeaTools finds 4 bad sectors; it's a seagate drive.)
Is that a 250GB drive? A lot of Seagate 250GB's are reported to have failed
(similar repute to the infamous IBM Deathstar), for 250GB drives Samsung
are a safer bet, they're very fast, quiet, and no significant problems
reported AFAIK.
