[Kingdom Hearts] Can it be animated?

Kingdom Hearts was successful enough to spawn a sequel game and a
manga series. The next step is usually an anime. However given the
crossover of numerous Disney properties combined with Square Enix'
Final Fantasy franchise would this be a licensing nightmare or would
they have been smart enough to work this possibility out when the
games were created?
