Naruto episode 31: "Bushy-Brow's Pledge: Undying Love And Protection!"

And now, in the aftermath of ALL HELL BREAKING LOOSE...


Night has fallen in the Forest of Death. Team 7 is down, with only Sakura
left to stand watch over her fallen comrades. Team Gai has split up and
moved out. The Sound ninja are hunting in the night...

Sakura falls asleep while watching over her nakama, and has a horrible dream
in which Orochimaru kills them horribly.

Upon waking up, Sakura is freaked out by a squirrel, and chases it away with
a kunai...not realising the squirrel has an exploding tag attached to its
back (God, how sick is THAT?)

Meanwhile, Rock Lee wastes time on one of his own stupid little fantasies...

....and barely saves the poor squirrel from becoming a nutbomb.

Elsewhere, Neji finds Team InoShikaCho...

....who try to charm/seduce him.

.....yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyeah.

Back to the IMPORTANT stuff: the Sound ninja alert Sakura to their presence
and demand she wake Sasuke.

.....ho boy, here we go with the 'bruise' *** again. This was annoying
enough in the Japanese version!

The Sound ninja are taken by surprise by one of Sakura's hidden traps, but
it fails to damage them...but Rock Lee shows up in time to protect her from
their onslaught.

(In the dub, Rock Lee nicknames himself the "Handsome Devil". His PROPER
nickname, for those not keeping up with the original version, is the
'Beautiful Green Beast'.)

After a brief discussion between Lee and Sakura, the leader of the three
Sound ninja charges forward to fight Lee. But the Beautiful Green Beast of
Konoha is NO pushover...

InoShikaCho had a discussion here, but we'll just ignore that.

Neji and Tenten meet back at their meeting spot, and discover Lee is not
there. They head off to look for him...

And we get a brief flashback to Lee being a doofus during training, which is
actually important because it's the first time we learn of the Lotus
technique.

Which, it seems, Lee is about to use in fighting the Sound ninja!

Lee uses Omote Renge to piledrive the Sound ninja into the ground, but
he is saved by his partner's Earth jutsu. With Lee's body thrashed from the
Renge, he's in no condition to defend himself from the Sound's attack...

It doesn't look good for the Beautiful Green Wild Beast of Konoha....
