Nah, more a case of people wanting to shorten words as much as
possible.
My dad's first cell phone from the late 80's/early 90's was nothingTechnology...wow!
more than a receiver plugged into a box with an antenna sticking out.
The things people can do with 'em nowadays didn't exist yet, they were
just portable telephones and nothing else.
Is that anything like Apocalypse Wow!?
It's getting there! :-)
One of the negative byproducts of technology, in my opinion, is the
shorter attention span, and the need for instant gratification, and the
criminal use of acronyms.
You mean SAS, NFIG and CUA? Yup, I agree!
I wish people knew what acronyms are.
I believe that *texting* is charged by the letter, so I understand
limited use of letters and numbers. But to skip a few keystrokes to the
detriment of communication is a *social* mistake.
The excuse given by more than one person of my acquaintance is that
English, being a living language, is constantly changing. The trouble as I
see it is that while this much is true, this is an excuse used by more
than one person to excuse their own laziness. Like, go fig, dude...
It is. I hate those guys who think that way.
Now, if the cellphones could do my washing and cook my meals!!! I had a
cellphone for about three years to keep in touch with my partner, but
he passed away three years ago...I immediately got rid of my
cellphone...hate 'em!
I use my mobe to send and receive calls. If I don't want to, I switch it
off. Ooo... that reminds me... ;)
You have priorities!
...otherwise, life is good!
Yeah, but like it or hate it, you can't ignore it. ;)

I'd rather yearn for the days when I would have to dial a phone with a
'dial'! :-)
