purchased a small frag from my LFS yesterday and after i let it
acclimate i put it into my tank. the guy at my LFS said to kinda place
it between two rocks so it doesnt float away or be blown away by the
current. anyway, i did just what he said and for some reason the tree
wont open up in a sense. its all shrivelled up and has not come
anywhere close to being the size that it was in the store's tank. and i
actually moved it into a different place in the tank because i thought
that maybe it was gettin too much water flow or light. now its on the
bottom of my tank in the sand. i was just wondering if its b/c it takes
a while for them to acclimate totally and spread their "branches" or if
im doing something wrong. i also have mushrooms and polyps in my tank
and they are doing just fine so i dont think that it has anything to do
with my water parameters since ive also been told that kenya trees are
virtually indestructable.
any help would be of assistance and will ease my mind about my new
purchase.

How long have you had this coral.....mine took quite a while to come
to life and now is way and above what he was in the LFS.......he
sagged for quite a while - acclimitization and then dealing with my
hermits toppling him......eventually I put him in the substrate and he
has been wonderful ever since.......now I have also had more delicate
corals sold to me as Tree Corals but when I got home and googled it -
it wasn't one and was almost impossible to keep....my LFS gave me a
full refund.....

So if yours is pink.....kind of shrivels up like pink broccoli then it
is a Kenyan Tree Coral - it needs time, patience and the correct
position.....as I said mine is on the substrate and does
brilliantly....
