Re: replacment parts for whisper

ERROR ALERT!!!! Wherever I use the number 40 below, please change it
to a 60. As I was stumbling out to my garden, I notice the filter box
in the garage and it said Whisper 60.

Does anyone know if they sell a replacement parts for the hang on the back
filters (whisper) I lost the extention tube, i dont know if you would have
to order them from the company or is it something they may sell at fish
stores or petsmart ect..
I lost the last piece of the extention tube, its a double sided filter, the
one you have to use a filter on two sides, the suction is pretty hard on it
so i have something with holes blocking it at the moment as not to suck up
any fish but since it only comes about half way down its not getting stuff
from the bottom of the tank anyway.

The replacement parts are almost as much as a new filter.

The double sided Whisper, (Whisper 40), has a lot of oooph - you can
dial it down by turning the arrow knob on top of the intake clockwise
all the way to 9 O'clock position, or part way. Seriously, if this
filter is too powerful for your tank, I would simply spend 15 bucks
for a new Whisper 20 or 30. Staying with the same brand of filter
makes it easy to exchange media and bio-sponges between them. As well
as extension tubes. Sometimes extension tubes from one brand will fit
another, you might do well by taking the piece you want to fit to your
pet store and ask the personnel if they can make a match. Sometimes
they will go in the back room and reappear with the part you need from
their box of junk leftover parts. You didn't mention the size of your
tank, but you are describing a Whisper 40, which I used as the sole
filter on my 55 for a while, until I replaced it with a Tetratec. On
my 29 and 15, Whispers 30 and 20 do fine. (I think I hear a faint
voice calling "Aquaclear" in the background."
