Hi..

It sounds like if allowed to grow long enough the
bio-colony could become a bio-monster and eat small
animals, then humans, then entire villages, then THE
WORLD.

Imagine the cross section of a bacteria-film to be stacked
or batched of inner and outer bacteria. The outer bacteria
have more or less water contact. The water bring food so
they are well fed. The inner bacteria have no water contact
and get food by diffusion, means they only get what the
outer bacteria didn't eat.

The thicker the colony the worse the supply (food, O2) of
the inner bacteria. The worse the supply the worse its
adhesive force. The inner bacteria first become inactive,
and later they lose its adhesive force and a bacteria-flake
leave its position.
