Plain CHLORINE kills them as dead as chloromines. I refilled what I thought

the black background. When I refill them I don't use a dechlorinator unless

We don't have chloromines in our water.

Weird, that's not been my experience at all. I've had chlorine
in my tapwater forever and I never saw any discomfort let alone
deaths, I even got away with chloramine for a while until one
day I killed a rae fish very very quicly. I used AmQuell
religiously after that.

I have well water now and it is no longer an issue.

I found the Merdel chlorine/chloramine test strips to be
EXTREMLEY accurate and useful.

I thought there was some sort of law that made municipalities
use chloramine instead of chlorine universally? No?

Chlorine is deprecated becuse when combined with tannis from
leaves it forms lugnotannins which are carcinogenic (or something
like that) whereas chloramine doesn't do that.

None here either. I think the laws are about the end product, the test
results, rather than the means used to achieve those results.
