I hate picking on the kids that work at places like WalMart pet
department, or some of the big box stores. I think most of them really
want to learn and really want to help the customers. But the
philosophy of their employers often have different priorities.
====================
I took a part time job at one of these large stores working in the pet dept. some years ago when I first retired. They had a lot of fishtanks plus hamsters, white mice, birds etc. Let me tell you it was a FULL-TIME job but they wouldn't hire a full-time employee to do it. I had only 4 hours a day to clean, feed and care for all these creatures. Aside from that there was counting the inventory and the endless interruptions by customers buying pets and asking hundreds of questions. So no matter how serious or devoted the employee, unless they give you enough hours or hire someone to handle the customers it can't be done on a part time basis. Now when I go into their pet dept. there isn't even a part timer working there. If you need help you have to go to the service desk or hunt down an employee - no matter what time of the day or evening. Said employee, when located, will know nothing about fish........
