OK. Next person. There must be some rationale behind this bucket
method, it must make sense to someone or the topic wouldn't have come
up. I get the feeling this is not just a cheap substitute for a
hospital or QT tank.
===========================
I remember reading somewhere that parasites are left behind with this
method. I don't buy it. Some don't leave the host such as gill flukes.
And look at the stress factor! Just my opinion but I think it's better for
the fish to get some kind of diagnosis and then go from there.

Koi-Lo...

I'm making some good guesses about it, but the suspense of waiting for
someone to come through with the full story is killing me.

It's in Dieter Untergasser's book as a suggested cure for certain diseases
where there is a free swimming stage such as ick. If you move fish to
disease free water often enough, you removed the fish frmo exposuse
to new pathogens. Keep in mind the life cycle of ICK is it's
free swimming (and this is when and only when it can be killed
by medication) then ifects the fish, forms an impenatrbale cyst,
multiplies to make 1000s more, then bursts and releases these
as free swimming cysts.

If you move the fish every day to clean water the cysts drop off
and never find a host - the fish is gone.

Takes about 3 weeks but you can cure things like ick and velvet this way.
