You were guessing it was 50 years old; I'm guessing it's a bit
newer, of the Pier 1 era perhaps.    1965-1975 (?)

I think it's a copy of a charcoal heater, stylized as a magazine
rack or fireplace accompaniment.


Seems like carrying it with that top handle might be a bit uncomfortable if
it had a good fire inside. 

That top handle doesn't seem to "match" the rest of the piece,
does it?
