Vintage Photography Photostat Duplicating Machine, No. 2

1-Day Left on Ebay....................

This Vintage Photography Photostat Duplicating Machine, No. 2, is in
excellent condition. The machine is supported on a large metal base (9
inches x 18 ½ inches) that has a square hole on the bottom side. On this
base plate is a large square housing (8 inches x 9 inches x 4 inches high)
that contains the shutter mechanism. On top of this square housing, there
is a large prism and lens assembly (5 inches x 5 inches x 6 inches high).
The prism/lens assembly is secured by a thumb screw. This assembly can be
removed by turning the thumb screw. The lens assembly is marked, (Prism - 3
in., Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, N. Y., USA). There is also a thumb lever
switch with a label that says, (Color Filter - On/Off). The right and left
side of the square housing is a gear mechanism. It has a large lens prism
on the topside. The left side also has a pull cord that releases the
internal shutter (the shutter is manually operated). The base plate has a
label that says, (No. 2, Photostat, Reg. U.S. Pat Off, Design: 4090A1342,
Manufactured by Photostat Corporation, Rochester, N. Y., USA, Under One or
More of the Following United States Patents) and a listing of 16 different
patent numbers. There is also a label on the upper part of the base plate
that says, (Caution, Do Not Remove Lens or Take it Apart. Wipe Face of
Prism Clean With a Soft Cloth. Raise Lens to Upper Stop For Full ***.
Lower Lens To Bottom Stop For Half ***).

Aside from what I have described, I know nothing more about this device. I
do not know how old this is, but my guess is that it is from the 1920-30s.
I also believe this is for duplicating pictures (?). I am very curious as
to what this is and any help would be appreciated, as well as added to the
description.

This machine is in excellent condition with all moving parts working
properly. There is no damage or cracks to the lens or prism and no damage
to any other parts.
