Sure, the obvious menu choices:

Edit -> Preferences -> Behavior ->
Get new headers in subscribed groups on startup

Thx. Yes I oversaw that.
I understand, that new posts are just downloaded at startup. If I leave
Pan open there will not be an intervall download, e.g. every half hour or
so. Correct?
