Is there an option I can select to change the color of threads/articles
that I'm watching, keeping, etc Or to just identify messages I may have

any "canned" scripts I can use? I haven't had much luck left to my own
devices.

How are you currently watching, keeping threads/articles?
By rules in scoring and actions or manually?

For messages you send (and subthreads) that can be done by adding a
rule in "Settings > Scoring and actions". For example:

[*]
!watch,keep,setcolor(blue;aqua) From "BP <brcphillips@xxxxxxxxxxx>"

applies to all groups, and would set the watch flag on your articles
(and subthread, by default), set the keep flag on your articles only,
and set a colour on your articles only.

or

[some.group.name]
!watch,setcolor(blue;fuchsia) Subject "Interest1" "Interest2"

applies to a specific group (or if part of a group name), and would
set a watch and colour if those 'interest words' were in the subject.

Use and switch between message views (create views to suit in Group >
Message views > Manage views) to display what you want to
(temporarily) see, like Watched, optionally Unread, Watch and Keep
etc.

In Message > Message Properties, colours, scores, and collapsed
followups or selected messages can be manually changed. If you were
manually setting Watch on articles/threads, then a simple (all I can
do) script (in Settings > Scripting > Scripting... > Custom scripts),
for example:

Program WatchAndColor;
Begin
ADo('Watch');
ADo('MessageProperties');
End.

with a shortcut and/or button might help a little.

WOW!! I guess you'd say I've been manually watching, etc. I'd hit the
watch icon to identify the article and if I wanted to find the article
again I'd scroll through the messages and hope to eventually find it. I've
used rules, but only to screen out the poster or topic that might be
offensive, spam, toll posted or just not relevant to my interests, but I
hadn't thought to use them in the way you've suggested. I've tried the
example you gave an it's a charm. I had hoped the program had a choice
that would assign the colors that I had overlooked that would do what I
want, but now I have something I can use to experiment.

Thank you.
