Re: Is there an easy way in Xnews to clone a server without losing subscribed NGs?

Subject asks the question, namely, is there an easy way to
clone or copy somehow everything in a server definition in
Xnews 06.12.01 without losing all the subscribed news groups?

Yes, I did RTFM but nothing jumped out at me. I know all this
info is in the newsrc file but I don't know how to tell Xnews
to copy what's there to the cloned server definition. I also
looked in the .ini files but didn't see anything.

I realize this isn't the latest version of Xnews but it isn't
broken, at least I don't think so, so I don't temp visits
from Murphy by downloading each new "test" version.

Gentle help would be appreciated.

I think this has been discussed before, but you can try by
adding the appropriate info to servers.ini and copying over
the Xnewsrc files in the Xnews folder and appending a name
matching the entries in the server.ini.

Seems like it should work.

Untested.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I actually tried this, almost, by taking the newsrc from what I
wanted from a Giganews account and copied the newsrc file over to
an Easynews account. It works, mostly, but fails to show unread
messages for about 1/3 of the 100 or so subscribed files unless I
manually do a Group>Refresh Headers Special, hence I'm looking to
see if there's an easier way than manually resubscribing to all
these NGs, which is a pain.

I don't understand, though, what gets copied into servers.ini. I
don't see anything there that is obvious to copy.
