Navigation in Dialog

When I'm using a newsreader, I like to navigate the thread tree using the
arrow keys, and at the same time be able to scroll a message body. You
might call this a "dual focus". The trouble I'm having with Dialog is
that whenever I view a message, the focus switches to the message body
pane. After that, the arrow keys just move about the message text, which
isn't what I want. In fact, the only thing I ever want to do with the
message pane is scroll the article, and I feel it should be possible to
do that without leaving the header pane. Or maybe I'm being unreasonable?

So, do you have any suggestions for setting up keybindings etc. so that
Dialog does what I want? Or should I just adapt myself to Dialog?

Thanks in advance.
