Just looked at Dan C's and Lenny_Nero's posts in the NG (also stable
Pan users) and they're also generating posts with "Message-Id" in
their headers... Can't fathom why the vers I'm using posts an "-ID",
if "-Id" is the norm for this vers of Pan. Unless it is server
related? I'll try another server with Pan, later (not near that box
right now).
Having just test posted here via several servers, here's my tally:
There's a group for that sort of thing y'know <G> ;-)
usenet4all ID
individual ID
motzarella ID
aioe ID
albasani ID
datemas ID
earthlink Id
That EL post may or not be via an outsourced feed; I can never remember
what servers at EL are and which aren't. Last I knew, there were a
handful of them -- the address you used determined if you were using an
old in-house server or not. Too many to remember which was which.
Wait. <clickety> Looks from headers like it was EL in-house. That may
make sense, because I didn't change my server setup when EL started
outsourcing news. So apparently if you follow their new-address
announcements you get outsourced and if you don't you're getting an old
in-house server that's still working.
comcast/giganews Id
Everybody but the big boys get it right.
Phew. It's not just me :-)
It's the server's fault (fairly conclusive I would say) :-)
I see you're on albasani too. I just signed up a couple of weeks back.
Very good service so far, I'm thinking.
My main feed has been NIN for a few years, and I'm completely happy with
them. The others I have set up mostly for evaluation. And because I
can't resist collecting them, the same way I collect clients (about eight,
at this point). :)
Recently, after evaluating usenet4all when I saw them referenced in nanau
as blocking Google[1], I added them; I've been using them pretty much
exclusively for a couple weeks, and they seem fine I can click off my GG
rule, and voila, there are no GGheads except as quoted. There is also no
other spam, so there doesn't seem to be a down side. It's a new service, I
believe - I only see their changes/history/news/whatever going back to
last year. So reliability is still relatively unknown and there's no long
presence to go by in terms of expected longevity.
Remember the thread I started with the Groper's quote about us using
Usenet but him and his kind using "the internet"? :) In that thread in
the group where I got it, someone (I don't *think* it was me, but it does
appear in my sigs) mentioned usenet4all for its Groper filtering, and a
Google Hugger called the admins at usenet4all censorship Nazis. Someone I
did not recognize defended the policy, and the whiner said that that
person was a/the admin *at* usenet4all. I'm glad usenet4all was defended
(and defended it myself, as well) even though to deaf ears and closed
eyes, of course. And I'm especially happy to see - if this is the case -
their admin himself stepping in. I'm glad he's/they're paying attention.
