Today XNews started crashing on the household PC but continues to work
fine on my Laptop.
Are the two configured the same way?
I've been experimenting and have worked the line
in servers.ini that is doing it
2=paradise,news.paradise.net.nz
If the setups are the same the compare the line you say is the problem if
they are the same than thats not the problem.
It now turns out that if I change the nickname of the server to bob or
anything else for that matter Xnews works fine. This also happened
with a new clean download in a seperate folder, both with a copied
servers.ini and entering the details via the normal dialogs.
I wonder if there isn't another reference to the nickname somewhere that
is conflicting, a reference that is expected, but missing/coruppt...
I did a quick experiment and got the exact crash you described by putting
a hyphen after the name of the server in in the metrics section of
Xnews.ini
So try deleting that, the whole section is fine, and see if the problem
is solved.
