I would rebuild my network with both the main box & the wireless one
to the router. Shutdown/powerdown the connectivity modem (cable or
whatever), the router, and the boxes - then power them back up in the
order: modem to the greenlights, then router observing its diagnostic
lights, then mainbox, then LTbox.

i guess I should have added that i have already tried multiple power
cycles, no joy

What I described wasn't a 'power cycle' in the sense of (simply)
powercycling the mainbox. It was a powering down of everything followed
by a sequence of powering up the modem so that it could get an IP
address, followed by powering up the router so that it could get the IP
address from the modem in anticipation of translating that IP to
distribute to the LAN, followed by powering up the mainbox so that it
could get a translated IP address from the router, followed by powering
up the LT so that it could get another different IP address from the
router.

If you can't get a NATed IP from the router after the above sequential
process, then I would think that either you have a hardware problem such
as the NIC in the mainbox or a (corrupt) winsocket problem.

A piece of motorway and piece of dual carriage way are enjoying a drink in
the pub. In walks a piece of red tarmac. The motorway whispers to the
carrageway "Come on lets drink up and go before the trouble starts; He's a
cyclepath!"
