Here's how I deal with it:

Possible one to add to your 3rd party filter solutions:
http://www.nfilter.org/
Haven't tried it, but saw it mentioned recently. Anyone tried
it? May add some power to TB.
Couldn't get it to work, and won't mention it unless I can include
rules syntax for Google Gouging.
Q just pointed out that the .exe files are actually
self-extracting zip files that can be viewed with archiving
program. I used IZArc and unzipped it and installed the program.
Pretty simple to set up, just point it to my news server, add the
following to the filter file:
* drop message-id:*googlegroups*
What's the name/path of that file?
Good question, there is an "edit->filter" menu option and I just
used that. I didn't read any docs on how to do it, there are
just some commented sample filter rules in the provided
nfilter.dat file and it's pretty intuitive if you've even done
similar for slrn, leafnode etc.
Checked the path and it's
C:\Program Files\NewsProxy\nfilter.dat
Group(s) do not need to be specified?
The first argument on the line "*" matches all groups as you'd
expect.
In TB set up a new news server "localhost" and you won't see any
GG posts :)
Pretty easy. I like it. Not as much as leafnode2/slrn, but
works ok for windows.
Ever used hamster?
I think I gave it a go once. Can't remember how to set it up
etc, but some of the other regulars here do because I've seen
them recommending it.
