You may want to look at another News-server, at least for backup.
Why? News Admins are contemplating to 'UDP' [1] Highwinds' servers
(and RoadRunner's and ...). See news.admin.net-abuse.policy [2] for
details.
The latest word is that Highwinds *is* taking action, but we've heard
that story before, so ...
[1] For some value of "UDP", i.e. passive, active, filtering, NoCeM,
cancelling, de-peering, <whatever>.
[2] (Robo) Moderated group. Strong stomach required. 'Friend' present.
