So this is an error in the Slackware install?
I believe so.

This may be bad news for users with a default install of Slackware 12
although obviously there is a workaround with a local install of
S-Lang. Mind you I have seen more enthusiasm for slrn in the ubuntu
newsgroup than amongst the slackware fraternity. Odd...
This problem niggled at me for a while so I examined the file in
greater detail:
/usr/lib/gcc/i486-slackware-linux/4.1.2/include/slang.h
and saw the tell-tale signs of automation gone wrong:
/* DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE.
It has been auto-edited by fixincludes from:
"/usr/include/slang.h"
This had to be done to correct non-standard usages in the
original, manufacturer supplied header file. */
Changed:
#define SLANG_VERSION 20006
#define SLANG_VERSION_STRING "2.0.6"
to:
#define SLANG_VERSION 20007
#define SLANG_VERSION_STRING "2.0.7"
and recompiled:
andrew@ilium~$ slrn --version
slrn pre0.9.9-16
* Note: This version is a developer preview.
S-Lang Library Version: 2.0.7
Compiled at: Oct 18 2007 23:25:07
Operating System: Linux
'auto-edit' always fills me with suspicion :-)
