I`d rather not use Google Groups (why is not relevant, it`s because

If anybody can argue how newsreaders can do this. , then i`m
interested. I can live with them not doing it, but it is far more
restrictive..

I find a reason why Google Groups is more useful is -

I don`t have to download messages, this takes time, particularly if
have not visited a group in a while.

And if haven`t used that computer-news client, in a while, and am
interested in posting to a few groups, then it`s even more to
download.

A newsreader doesn't have to download all messages or download all
headers for groups. For example, a newsreader can retrieve just the
new headers since last time, or retrieve a number of headers you
specify, or perhaps catch up and retrieve no headers until next time
or from then on. The bodies for messages can be retrieved as you want.

One reason to retrieve some or all headers in groups since last time
you read the groups or visited and groups you haven't is to
familiarise yourself with the group and/or browse through recent
headers or posts.

And if it`s another comp, and I just want to post a message, i`d have
to download a news client, create an identity, get newsgroup list,
subscribe to the newsgroups, get all the messages, and post. It is
only really useful if you are using usenet every day, and, from the
same machine.

If you have access to a news server, use different computers, and not
a regular Usenet user, perhaps consider or try a portable newsreader
on a USB stick/flash drive. Some newsreaders should work okay and
there are portable apps available.

You're using some awfully big words, there, for that Google Groper, Rom.
;)

Hey, he did address me with his Subject header, after all. :)
