Re: Filtering Google Groups: I give up :-)

Hi,

After resisting for some time I received the straw that broke the
camel's back today when I actually sent a complaint to Google Groups
about an idiot posting adds for Nike shoes in a Linux NG. The response
was:

"Thank you for your note. Google does not regularly monitor or censor
postings sent to Google Groups, but we do try to prevent wide-scale
spam and other forms of Usenet abuse. Please be assured that the
informationyou sent to us is being collected and taken into account.
While we understand how annoying off-topic posts can be, we aren't able to
pursue most complaints we receive about them. We are using the
information you provide to make large-scale improvements in preventing abuse. We
appreciate your help in our efforts to increase the quality of Google
Groups."

I almost choked on my coffee when I read 'how annoying off-topic
posts can be'!!! There are so many things wrong with that smirking
little statement that I cannot even begin ....

So as of August 3rd 2007 1300 hrs the following lines have entered my
score file and I officially join Blinky's crusade:

Actually after that rant I feel a little better :-)

Hey, you know how I ask permission from time to time to put some
testimonial (or rant) (or both <g>) on my UIP page at blinkynet.

Once I Finally Get Around To It(tm), I'm moving The Project to a
dedicated website. Since The Project won't just be a page, anymore,
I'll have room for longer "Other Voices" entries (that's the name of the
section where that kind of thing goes now).

Mind if I put that whole she-bang up, when I reach that point of the
move and expansion?
