Re: [Xnews] FQDN generation

Reality folded in on itself, and somewhere the following words from "Guy" appeared in history:

Xnews does not *use* the "suggested one" at anytime.

Unless you don't set a Token-ID...

Either it sends a MID or it does not.

If it sent a "blank" MID it would be rejected by most servers...

All news servers "sugest" a MID on POST and it's up to the client to use
that MID or not. As seen in my hamster logs:

Standard post, with a token-ID set Xnews ignores any sugestions and
uses it's own generated MID. RFN "desires" a given MID too, but Hamster
quietly pass on what Xnews sent.

As you can see here, Hamster sugests "<f69eh5.2os.1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>"
and Xnews returns that value in it's post, placed in the headers where
only the news client should edit.

The MID is not present the SENT folder, nor is it seen in the raw file
while editing, so it is clearly added on post.

And with "add MID" turned off in Hamster...

Gota love that. Here is a case where Hamster adds the servers' "desired"
MID, since it's acting like a client. But, because it didn't get an MID
(never sugested one) it need a fictional one for the archive.

So Xnews can return a "blank" MID, in unususal situations, but defaults
to whatever the server sugests. If I was to further mess with my
Hamster settings I could "spit" the post out, unaltered, as text file,
just to see exactly what Xnews is sending in this case...

But only after some sleep.
