Someone else said they can. I'll add that Xnews can, too.

I'm running it on a flash drive on my laptop, where it shares its rc
file (list of newsgroups, subscribed, and info on what's read and what's
not) with this Linux box (my primary system) with slrn on this box, so I
can move from one machine to the other and be synched.
