Is it possible to force Editor to always open in full screen
mode?

Yes - although I can't ever recall having to 'force it' ever.

How?

I tend to have all Xnews windows open maximised so they just
appear that way anyway, editor window included.

I like them better cascaded.

Buncha weirdos. God uses Xnews three-paned, and that's good
enough for me, by golly. :)

User-Agent: slrn/0.9.8.1 (Linux)

Hrm.... um.. ok.. ;-)

I currently have Mandrake and SUSE Linuxes and Windows 2K and XP.
Installed and in use daily are news clients slrn, Pan, Knode and
Xnews. Others installed and set up but not used daily are XPN and
Thunderbird.

Your point was what, exactly?

I just found it somehow amusing with respect to your posting about
Xnews when I can't think of a single time I've seen you post with
anything other than slrn...

You haven't been paying attention. For example, when I'm using my
laptop (on the road, or some late nights from the blinky bedroom (yes,
sharks *do* sleep <g>) I always use Xnews. Granted, I post the *most*
with slrn.

That said, scroll down to the Xnews section here:

http://blinkynet.net/comp/ndx_windows.html

That's not there because I only use/know slrn. ;)

There are others here that are fluent in more than one news client, too,
Grasshopper. :)
