The usernames and passwords are stored in the Password Manager:
Tools -> Options ->Privacy -> Passwords
I'm not that familiar with Thunderbird, but this stumped me for a
while the first time.
Bingo. I just booted one of the machines I have TB on, here, and opened up a new TB account for my registration at motzarella.org. Got the authinfo request just fine. First time, with that unchecked, I got dumped into the anon-available groups. I guess I never even noticed that there were two levels on that server.
