Does anyone know how to retrieve these popup size values? Eg., I want
the sizes for say, a few hundred files. The fact that they will
'popup' individually means that Xnews has this information somewhere
but how do I access it? It must be in the .hdr files but in some form
of proprietary code (I've had a look). I can export the headers of
interest to an nzb and read that wherein the byte sizes are readable
but there will be a size for each part of a multi-part binary and I
want the total.
Standard headers only provide the number of lines per post. Any estimate
of the article size in bytes is just that -- an estimate. The size of a
binary file can be roughly calculated, but it depends on the encoding
method (yenc, uuencode, radix-64).
The popups are a result of Xnews performing a calculation, not reading
some hidden information from a header.
