Why doesn't any of the information I've put under the "identities"
tab appear at the end of articles?
The only information in the "identities" part of Xnews setup to appear
at the end of articles is your "sig" file.
You don't enter your sig into this field. You create a separate sig
file (a plain text file created with Notepad) and name it sig.txt (you
could name it Fred.txt for all it matters). Create this sig file using
the form:
"-- "
Your sigfile text goes here
And here if it needs to
- Yes, you do add the two "-- " (without the quotes) followed by a
space, before adding the text for your sig in the following lines.
Then (back in Xnews) you click the small button marked [...] to the
right of the "Signature file" field under the "identities" tab.
Clicking this button you get to navigate to where you saved the sig
file and choose it's name. The contents of the sig file get dumped
into the end of your posts from then on.
The server you use already dumps it's SPAM at the end of your posts,
so I guess it will keep adding this after your sig once you create
one.
If you get more than one server to post from, you add them and your
details for each one under "Servers" tab and "Advanced".
Newbie - who feels that setting up the other info on Xnews and
getting this far was doing pretty durn good!! :-)
Yes, you managed to post using Xnews, that's a good sign :-)
Although, you are using an old version.
