[slrn] Will not find authors when use a or A command

When I use the a or A key in slrn it prompts to
find the author properly but SLRN can't find a
message with that author most of the time. I have
tried in a number of newsgroups with the same result.
This has occured in the SUSE SLED 10.1 command line
terminal, in XWindow with gnome-terminal and xterm.
I was able to get one positive match with a email
account of bob@domain, but a match is rare even
though the email name or address is there. Subject
serach works properly and with no problems.
Slrn 0.9.8.1pl1 [2005-02-17]
