I have been using "X-News" as my primary newsgroup reader for
years; I recently started getting this error message: "11004 - No
Data while looking up news.comcast.net". I've installed, uninstalled,
gone over the Set-Up, (with a fine-tooth comb!), with the same
results.

Any thoughts? Please advise! Thanks, in advance, for your assistance.

The source of the error is external to Xnews; it's Windows' way of
saying that it couldn't get the IP address of "news.comcast.net".

Assuming that "news.comcast.net" actually exists, either the DNS
settings in your Windows networking config are wrong or the DNS
itself is hosed.

It exists. Henry, you might try newsgroups.comcast.net. It resolves to
the same server here.

An external test to try which doesn't require reconfiguring Xnews is to
open a command window and try a few of these:

nslookup news.comcast.net
nslookup newsgroups.comcast.net
nslookup netnews.comcast.net
nslookup comcast.dca.giganews.com

They should all resolve to the same address.

When you invoke nslookup, the first two lines it prints are the name and
IP address of the DNS it's using to perform the lookup; if the lookup
fails, then the fault is with that DNS.
