Sometimes the number of unread posts shown in the expandable panel at the
top of the headers pane indicates that I have some unread messages (and
this number matches the "new" column in the newsgroups panel) but I can't
find these posts. Usually unread messages show in red and I find them by
pressing N or space. Sometimes, after reading all the new messages this
way, there are numbers showing that there are still a few more.
Check the view of the group in the drop-down list on the left of the
expandable panel or Group > Message views. Groups can override the
global view in Sorting/Scoring of Group > Selected group options.
Views are defined in Manage views.
Is the view used the same for the other groups?
Yes.
Does an Unread messages view find them?
No. This group and all of the groups are set for an Unread messages view.
Right now, the group in question says there are 3 unread messages in both
the headers and newsgroups pane, but I see no sign of these messages.
Nothing is highlighted in red and space or N takes me to the next group.
Thanks for your suggestion. At least I've eliminated one possibility.
