Perhaps I disremember, but I think OP said that if he removed the .txt
extension, the sig worked fine. That said...
No, he copied it to another directory. I suspect the copy didn't have
the execute permission anymore. As Frank said, doing an 'ls -l' would
prove that.
I know it came from somewhere else, but I thought he said it was taking
off the .txt extension that made it work. Oh, well. I don't always
remember where I put the car keys, either. :)
...if I change my sig from .sigblinkygg to .sigblinkygg.txt and set the
execute permission, it doesn't show up in my composition pane. It
doesn't ask me what to do with it, as OP reported; it's just not there.
You're right. It shouldn't do that: there's no code in Pan 0.14.2.91
that would cause that. I don't think that's what happened, though. The
OP said:
Quote
Do you want to run "name of file", or display the contents"
"name of file" is an executable text file.
End Quote
The choices are 1. Run in Terminal, 2. Display, 3. Cancel and 4. Run.
Like I said, that's not Pan. That's Nautilus (gnome's file manager). My
guess is the OP double-clicked the file in Nautilus and saw this, but
neglected to state that little subtlety in his post.
Ah! Okay, I thought he'd been claiming that Pan was asking him.
Sorry I've been away from this thread. I had no idea I'd asked such an
interesting question. The dialog box is clearly Nautilus. What is "Is
-al" or "Is -l?" Christophe and Frank seem to have a command of the
subject if not a full answer. In Nautilus the files still behave the same
way with the dialog box, with or without the .txt extension. Only by
constructing new files, cut and and moving to a new directory did it work.
Back at Nautilus nothing has changed. It is not a pressing problem at the
moment. But any ideas?
