I didn't realize it would work on a Usenet spool. Makes sense, though.

You're missing out on alt.music.flamenco. ;)

I understand that it is less expensive to use xref rather
than from.

I'll have to keep my eye on that. Thanks.

Don't forget rr.com. It's run by and for trolls.

A *lot* of spam comes through there too.

Do you have _any_ idea how to score for non-us-ascii characters
in the headers, Michael?

Nope. I'm not sure I'd want to score based on that, either, considering
the fact that more and more english-not-as-first-language countries are
getting online. The presence of non-us-ascii characters in the "From:"
header is no longer a flawless indication of a wannabe l337
skript-kiddie looking for info on how to do naughty things.

I saw a post today in a different group where somebody gave a
bashing to a guy because he had non-ascii characters in his "From:"
header. The guy wasn't trolling, though, and what he had to say about
PeoplePC made me seriously glad I didn't go with them when I had the
chance. Not all people with eccentric tastes in aliases are up to no
good. (Just ask Blinky the Shark. <g>)

That said, you could try putting all of the non-ascii characters
between square brackets, and testing for their presence. I'm not sure
if the regexp [Ç- ] would work. (The end range characther there is
ascii 255, which doesn't show anything.)

How about googlegroups?

I just killed them today as an experiment. I want to see if I'm missing
anything. We'll see.
