Re: I broke slrn

I'm not finding .slrnrc nor does creating one with
hostname=hawat.thufir.gmail.com in it seem to help.

That's because the syntax is wrong. There should be no "=".

Thanks :)

(Note also that the preferred syntax is "set hostname [hostname]".)

If you want SLRN to generate Message-Ids, you'll probably also want
the "posting_host" command:
http://www.slrn.org/manual/slrn-manual-5.html#posting_host

Thanks :)

I recommend setting posting_host to whatever your FQDN in leafnode is.
However:

Thanks :)

<snip>

thufir@localhost ~ $ telnet localhost 119
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
200 Leafnode NNTP Daemon, version 1.11.3.rel running at localhost (my
fqdn: hawat.thufir.gmail.com)

You should *not* use this FQDN for posting, unless Google Inc. gives
you permission. To obtain a valid FQDN, take a look at dyndns.com or
no-ip.com.

Thanks :)

I'm going to give slrn another go. Right now I can read groups fine
from pan or pine. I haven't tried posting from pan yet.

thufir@localhost ~ $
thufir@localhost ~ $
thufir@localhost ~ $ telnet localhost 119
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
200 Leafnode NNTP Daemon, version 1.11.3.rel running at localhost (my
fqdn: geidiprime.servebeer.com)
^]

telnet> quit
Connection closed.
thufir@localhost ~ $ date
Tue Mar 28 16:53:11 IST 2006
thufir@localhost ~ $

thanks,

Thufir
