I'm not trolling.
You scream your question incessantly and you sling ugly
names at the OP for not answering you. And I see you've
resumed posting to the thread you promised to leave.
Even HAD I done all that, that would not necessarily make me
a troll. Besides:
1)
I don't scream (nor am I responsible for the voices in your
head). If you're referring to "all-caps-is-yelling", that is
a convention which made no sense to me 20 years ago and makes
less now. I don't yell, I sometimes need to stress certain
words. Since I don't use html in mail/news, I emphasize them
with caps or <>'s. If there is another way, please enlighten
me.
2)
Since the OP insists on wanting to do what can't be done
(even Luu told him that, to which his response was more or
less "Unacceptable. Great program, but please rewrite it so
it will run the way I think it should."), I have suggested he
is demented, not very smart, or out of touch with reality.
For ACTUAL "ugly names slung at", please see most of the
posts addressed to me.
3)
I have never returned to the thread which I had said I left.
Pay attention. This is not the same thread, just the same
subject. An AMAZINGLY large amount of posts to this group
deal with the XNews "memory problem" which is not even a
problem (just like no spell-checkers in EVERY text-related
program is NOT necessarily a problem), if you are capable of
some analytical thinking and are not afraid of a little
manual work.
I have, as SINNER (bless him) puts it, a "transistor radio"
of a computer and I never have any memory problems with
XNews, and I have been downloading with it problem-free for
several years, including entire CD images. Yet when I try to
tell people how I have eliminated the supposed "memory
problem", I am insulted and called a troll. Fine. So much for
intelligent exchange of helpful ideas.
Surely you remember that; you started a new thread to
proclaim that you were leaving the other one.
I wanted to make you happy and for all to see the header so I
posted a >single post< proclaiming I was done with the
thread. A single post does not a thread make. YOU guys made
that post a thread, by responding to it extensively - why, is
beyond
my comprehension.
Trolling is
a behavior; whether or not you have a "complicated
personality" is irrelevant.
Certain personalities tend towards certain behaviors, so it
is relevant. Whether you find trolls amusing or annoying, or
even if you just automatically use your killfile on them, IMO
trolling does require a certain type of what, for lack of a
better term, I would call a "complicated" personality. BTW, I
still maintain I am not a troll, but your opinions are your
own.
Does anyone here, in spite of living in the digital realm,
even realize what TEN MILLION of anything actually IS?????
Sure. Even when put in all caps, 10^7 isn't a
mind-bogglingly large number. Certain not large enough to
warrant all the screaming and multiple question marks.
It is not a large number to a mathematician or a physicist
but it is a VERY large number for XNews connected to a
premium provider "straight out of the box", with a
not-terribly-smart person at the keyboard, as the countless
posts about the "problem" continue to make RATHER obvious.
Just that an image of a reasonable and intelligent person
(you) talking to a crazed crack-addict type about his
temporary insanity - 10,000,000 headers OR having green
dripping fingers - which happens to be my perception of
the OP (based on his desire to DL said 10,000,000 headers
at once) is kind of funny.
Not nearly as funny as seeing that when you find someone
doing something you can't get your head around, you think
of it in terms of insanity and crack addiction.
I can get my head around the concept just fine, it is the
irrationality of insisting on doing something which can NOT
be done even with a top-of-the-line computer that I have a
LITTLE bit of a problem with. In fact, to many people, that
type of behavior is the definition of stupidity.
And he is NOT "doing" it, HE CAN'T DO IT, that's why he
posted here in the first place! Even Luu told him it can't be
done! Again, pay attention!
As for insanity and crack addition, I was just simplifying
for the group's benefit. As a matter of fact, I know some
crazy people and drug users who make a lot more sense and are
a lot more interesting to talk to than most of the regulars
here. (Yes, yes, to ME they would be, of course.)
N.B.
Sorry about the 0-content posts. I had about 12 msgs in my
Outbox, told XNews to send them, and they all went (complete)
into my "sent" folder but nothing was actually posted. If you
know why, please tell me.
I am now reposting them the hard way, one at a time, because I
want them out of the way so I can go and do something else
entirely pointless and unnecessary.
