Re: notification if new posts in marked threads

Hallo Frank!

This should be my first post sent with tin.
Don't worry, let me tell:

First I tried to use my already installed vi.
But setting the environment variable VISUAL was
not successful, anyway.
Then I copied the vi.exe from tin-1.4.3-win32.zip to D:\cygwin\bin.
But the vi was not able to save the file:

"\cygdrive\d\tin\.article.1416" Can't open file for writing
Press RETURN or enter command to continue

The path "\cygdrive" (with backslash) does not exist! Just try a
"cd \cygdrive" while in a "Command Prompt" window, and it will say "The
system cannot find the path specified.".

This matter, and the solution, is described in the "vi editor:"
section of my README.txt file.

Please allow me another question too,
for which I found no answer in the man pages:

I used Outlook Express for reading news and I am accustomed
to see also all headers arrived in previous sessions.

How can I adjust this behavior in tin?

By default tin only shows unread articles. If you want to see the read
articles as well, use the 'r' ("toggle display of all/unread articles")
while viewing the list of threads (Group Level).

When you are *in* a thread, you can press 'l' (list), which will give
a tree which you can navigate. When you are at the right article/author,
just press Return to view the article.

As I said before, just use 'h' (Help) and realize that commands, and
hence the Help, is context-dependent, i.e. at the Group Level you have
other commands than on the Thread Level, etc..

Thank you for your help in the last days

Have a good day
