XNEWS: Are Bugs Going to Be Fixed?

Hi David_W_Fenton,

Speaking of Xnews bugs going unfixed, such as font sizes and Word_Wrapping,
raw 8-bit encodings in headers, the sheer plethora of encodings,
and losing your special_header selections...

My newsreader, X, uses MLang to decode 8 bits headers any which way,
....neither Dialog nor Xnews can do that.
Read about X at: Cotse.NET/users/jeffrelf

X writes out = ? UTF-8 ? Q ? Data ? = stuff when creating headers though,
instead of raw 8bits.

Further, it uses Visual_Studio_2005
and my VBA macros to edit, search and post.
I cut and paste to Dictionary.COM, as that's the best spell checker there is.

Neither VS nor X wrap lines... you must do that manually.
My VS settings use Win_Vista's Consola font, 80 columns, monospaced,
dark yellow on black.

X places all articles in one big .TXT file,
so that I can use Visual_Studio_2005 and my VBA macros,
to edit, search, post, etc.

One click on up or down arrows I have in VS' toolbar
finds an identifier under the text cursor... repeatedly so, of course.
Another pair of arrows merely repeats the last search, up or down.

An identifier is an Alpha_Numeric plus underscores and non_ASCII characters,
....yes, this is a valid C++ statement: int 退出 = 0 ;

Those arrows look like this to me:

Unread direct/indirect replies to me are listed first,
followed by what I call _The_Most_Discussed_Articles_.

My scoring assigns an article one point for each line of reply to it,
5 levels deep, weighted by level.

Lines beginning with _>_ don't count, deeper quotes, > >, count negatively
because they're chatting instead of taking the time to paraphrase.
The _>_ is subequently replaced with a space... so I never see them.

Replyless articles get increasingly negative scores, based on their age.
Titles that begin with _Re_ get -100,000,
....so, unless it's a direct or indirect reply to me... I rarely see them.

This is what it looks like when X updates a newsgroup,
the .TXT file is 5 megs, UTF-16 encoded:
