It is not meant to fool 'us', but to fool the (News) spam filters.
They generate a unique key per posting in the hope that the filters
think that their substantively identical messages are unique. But of
course now most filters just filter on their silly string before the
colon, i.e. I never saw the spam, only your response to it.

For Dutch people this is all rather funny, because in Dutch "maf"
means "silly"/"stupid", which is a rather correct classification, don't
you think?
