As Blinky told you, update it. It's harder to trouble shoot a problem with
software that isn't current.

The current released version is ??.01.30 and you'll find it as the "test"
version at http://xnews.newsguy.com You can just unzip it and drop it on top
of your current xnews, it will overwrite the older version and all your
settings will be saved.

Of course, if there's a problem with your connection to the server the new
version won't fix anything....
