Ahhhh, yeah that is true, but it will also kill newbie posts that do not
know any better 'cause they have not been gently (Or not so gently)
informed that cross posting to many newsgroups is not a good thing to do.
Now I do use the linux help groups a lot and the FAQ for the linux groups
do not request that you not cross post, but recommend that you limit it
to 3 or 4 (At the most!) groups and use a follow up to newsgroup, as
stated in the bi-weekly FAQ:

Subject: A new reader? Welcome to alt.os.linux, read this first if you're
new here (FAQ)

I do cross post when I have a question that I am not sure will be
adequately answered in one newsgroup. I will limit the cross posting to 3
or less groups and will supply a follow up newsgroup. I think that this
"troll rule" of killing anything cross-posted at all to even two groups
at a time is a bit much overkill and will lose some legitimate posts.
Won't do that but for sure the cross posting to advocacy groups.

I like the XRef line and will use this in some variant, for sure. Thanks
duck!
