What help file entry is that? XP Help and Support Center says:

To select multiple files and folders
Open My Documents.
Do one of the following :
To select consecutive files or folders, click the first item, press
and hold down SHIFT, and then click the last item.


Now that I understand how it works, I can do things a little
differently when dragging a group of files. I still maintain it's
counter-intuitive to the vast majority of people, and agree with you
that many would not understand if it were explained to them. I have
seen this referred to many times, and always (until now) as a "bug".
