Peeps have abandoned this froup for one reason or another ... and that

Am feeling the same way, kinda. The group seems to have mutated into
something that's not fun anymore. A lot of cross-posting, dumb and/or
uninteresting posts,

I filter out crossposts so it's interesting to see a count of, say, 41
posts for the day but when I open the window for the headers, I get,
like, 2. And they're usually both k00lchicki posting just a link and
nothing else.

a lot of anger and too many obvious trolls with
nothing to do but stir up shit. With a few exceptions (which include
pretty much the same ones you referenced, PJ),

Davida will be pleased she still isn't on a list. <g>

the real wit that lived
here once has disappeared and been replaced by half-wits. I still
like to read the regulars from the old days - but I skip through the
vast majority of posts these days.

I check in about twice a week via gloogle groups. Real life has taken
the place of that little piece of life I once gave over to m.w.

Facebook for me, for now. At least during my downtime.

More time given over to (these days anyway) getting the garden in
shape,

*I* am going to grow tomatoes! I have never grown tomatoes before. I am
a tomato growing virgin.

renovating the house for the past 14 months - only the floors
to do now; writing my journal, working, and volunteering at the local
church. It's an exciting time to be alive, and to find folks you can
have real conversations with, folks you can discuss stuff with -
whether you agree with each other or not doesn't matter - it's always
mostly civil and funny. Like we used to do here, once upon a time.

We talk about our hopes for the US and the new road they've taken
politically ... (far more exciting that the route WE'RE going on right
now) ... we oohed and ahhed about the Kentucky Derby last night (was
that a great race or what!? and didn't the best little gelding win at
a 50-1 shot?!) ... and why didn't I bet my $2 on Mine That Bird
instead of the fave? Shit. You never win big if you don't take the
long-shot bets <sigh>.

A couple of weeks back, scrolling through m.w., I was thinking about
all the stuff I've learned in the last 5 years and how I hope it's all
gonna help me understand the next 5 years, and I was tempted to post
and ask if anybody else would be interested in adding their two cents
about what they've learned. But then I thought, nah - it'd only
attract the trolls and skew off into some kind of dull carping. So I
didn't. It's true I guess, you never win big if you don't take the
long-shot bets.

The garden calls - the sun shines here and it's warm in downtown TO --
8 recylable paper refuse bags await filling ... my back will ache
tomorrow. Happy Sunday!

Had a splendid walk down by a crick bed -- mostly dried up but still
some places all cool and watery. Dogs chased lizards, splashed in the
puddles, clambered over the rocks and sniffed. It would've been hot but
for the sweet breeze and shadowy trees.

Back now, and have housework to catch up on. And tomatoes to grow.
