Does God exist? What is the meaning of it all?
We are born into this world, and as Jim Morrison of 'The Doors' would
sing, we find ourselves becoming 'Riders on the Storm', lost and
lonely, looking for the meaning to it all in this complex thing called
life. For most of us there will come a point in our lives were we ask
the big questions. And a prime example is 'Does God Exist?'. The way
classical biblical religions express their belief in God is in an
invisible spiritual being who usually must be perceived by that
intangible substance of 'faith'. I mean faith? What good is that, hey?
How can somebody build a logical foundation of fact on airy fairy
faith. Surely sound, demonstrable scientific evaluation is the sure
and sensible pathway for coming to understanding human existence.
Yet the ultimate fruit of the purely rationalistic mind is usually
found expressing itself in 'evolutionary' theory, in which
grandfathers grandfather looked like a monkey. And that viewpoint,
which is in itself a faith stance, based on an ill thought out view of
science, lasts a lifetime for some people as the major explanation for
what human life is based on. But in the godless ideology of
'evolution' as explaining human existence, what real purpose can life
possibly serve? Certainly, the atheistic evolutionist can find love,
attachment and friendships. That is undoubtedly true. But if mankind
comes down to, in evolutionary theory, simply a handful of atomic dust
with no predesigned purpose or point to its existence, what value is
love rather than a supposed chemical bonding experience for the
propogation of further human life. And if love is simply a chemical
experience, is there any real point to it at all? You see, the
evolutionist, in expressing things of emotion, love and kindness
betrays the rationilistic belief of evolutionary theory as untrue -
proven untrue by the very real and God-Made-Image that the
evolutionist really, in his or her soul, IS.
The truth is that the answer to the big questions 'Does God exist?'
and 'What is the meaning to Life' can be answered by the soul and
heart which is truely honest with itself. If you WANT to believe
evolutionary theory, YOU WILL. But in the end you maintain your
beliefs because you WANT to. Throughout your life you will be
challenged by believers in God, but you will reject them, with your
own anti-religious ideologies, primarily because you WANT TO. But the
truth - being the truth - is not subjective. It does not conform to
your viewpoint simply because you want it to. Ultimately wether you
believe in evolution or not or God or not, the truth of the situation
stands true regardless of your belief. But for the believer in God,
that truth CAN be known. The key to finding this truth, is in finding
your own humanity. It comes from searching your heart - from searching
your soul - and from realizing that YOU matter and that OTHERS matter
- and that life DOES have a purpose and meaning to it. It comes from
realizing that LOVE exists and has meaning and sense. It comes from
realizing that there is a design to the the universe and to nature -
and that behind that design, as common sense dictates, there is a
designer.
Ultimately, in life, the question is this. Will you let yourself be
truely human. Truely alive. Will you find that within you which does
say, YES I believe. That does say YES there is a meaning to it all.
And that in the end, if it is truely honest with itself, will say YES
GOD - YOU ARE.
