Towse goes:
So there you have it. Seven results from a Google search. One, William H
Palmer yammering on about Peter the Great sometimes being called the
Abraham Lincoln of Russia. Two mentions that Bill Clinton called Yeltsin
the Abraham Lincoln of Russia. One mention that Armand Hammer was
encouraging Gorbachev to be the Abraham Lincoln of Russia and three
references to Alexander II being the Abraham Lincoln of Russia.
You'll notice that the others either post-date or are contemporaneous
with Lincoln. Peter lived a good century before him. That's like
calling Rembrandt the David Hockney of Rotterdam. In a word: stupid.
Nonsense. You tried that same silly argument a
couple of posts back and now you have the colossal
nerve to crawl back with it. Many people have been
called the "George Washington" or the "Abraham
Lincoln" of various countries and there is certainly
no absurd limitation (except in the dim mind of the
Hopeless Hopester) that such comparisons are only
valid when referring to people who were contemporary
with either Washington or Lincoln.
Alan said, or post-dated them.

Don't start being a little skiver now, Bill.

Alan Hope's ridiculous
assertions rejected as the dull products of a feeble,
dishonest intellect....
Do you want to address the fact that it seems no one but you refers to
Peter The Great as the Abraham Lincoln of Russia?

Nonsense, Sal. You know very well that the
Hopester's latest horsefeather-flinging fit was
simply aimed at diverting attention from my
main point, which I will gladly repeat.

Do you want to address the fact that it seems no one but you refers to Peter The Great as the Abraham Lincoln of Russia?

Russia suffers greatly from a lack of good
leadership models. And don't think that
just because Putin is not known to have a
large picture of Stalin in his office, that Putin
does not have a very large picture of Stalin
in his MIND, along with that of Peter the
Great, Ivan the Terrible and a long chain of
other bloodthirsty tyrants.

Oh. So now you're saying that Putin has in his MIND (which is MUCH more effective than just hanging it on the wall because, of course, it means Putin has it with him ALL THE TIME) a very large picture of Peter the Great, the Abraham Lincoln of Russia.

Glad you could clear that up.
