Doing the math

So far this month (as of yesterday) my huge Ford Explosion has been driven
304 miles, and I used 27 gallons of gas @ 3.78 per gallon. That's about
11mpg and a cost of about $100. When I drive highway miles I get upwards of
21 mpg, but most of my driving is strictly city streets.
I'm told that if I buy a more economical vehicle I can double my mileage and
cut that cost in half, spending $50 instead of $100. However, since the
Explosion is paid for, and insurance on it is way less than it would be on a
new set of wheels, I would end up spending upwards of $300 a month more than
I do now and would have a *lesser* vehicle to drive. Can you see me in
some jap crackerbox? No, of course not. I'm a macho guy, and I need a
macho vehicle that matches.
And if I bought something smaller, what would I do with the Explosion? I
could never bear to get rid of it; so, it would take up space in my
garage--forcing me to put the ATV under a tarp--and only be used when I
wanted to cruise around the subdivision and impress the neighbors. One guy
has already offered (twice) to buy it for a very good premium, but I
declined.
So, I take another aspirin to subdue the new car fever that hits me every
now and then.
I'd like to buy a Suburban, but they are little small--and expensive.
